About The Agrarian Kitchen

Set across the expansive grounds of a restored nineteenth-century asylum in New Norfolk, this paddock-to-plate destination turns estate agriculture into immersive dining. Guests start their three-hour meal wandering the working garden, stepping into the greenhouse for initial snacks and an aperitif before settling into the dining room. Course after course leans entirely on hyper-seasonal harvests—seared artichoke hearts, house-made burrata with pickled lemon miso, and garden vegetables served minutes from the soil. House-fermented tonics and botanical syrups form a dedicated non-alcoholic pairing alongside boutique wines. Out on the lawn, the weekend kiosk turns out flaky lamb sausage rolls and warm quiche beside burning fire pits.

  • Greenhouse & Garden Degustation: The multi-course degustation begins with snacks and drinks served right inside the working greenhouse and gardens before guests transition inside.
  • House-Crafted Pairings: House-fermented concoctions, seasonal syrups, and foraged botanicals form a bespoke alcohol-free flight crafted entirely on-site.
  • Weekend Lawn Kiosk: A walk-up lawn counter serves lamb sausage rolls, quiche, and seasonal plates alongside open-air fire pits on weekends.
  • Historic Restored Grounds: Adaptive reuse transforms the sprawling grounds and masonry of a historic asylum into a regenerative restaurant and agricultural space.

Before you head over

Practical timing and planning advice for dining and garden visits

  • Allow at least three hours for lunch

The multi-course degustation includes walking through the working garden and beginning courses in the greenhouse or grounds before moving inside, so allocate at least three unhurried hours for lunch.

  • Book garden tours in advance

If you plan to attend a guided garden tour alongside lunch, book the tour session in advance, as garden tours operate on set daily schedules prior to dining.

  • Arrive early for weekend kiosk visits

The casual outdoor Kiosk operates on weekends and lines can stretch deep for baked goods, so arrive early if you want popular items like pastries or quiche without long waits.
